This is very sturdy. You must step up high to get on the treadmill. I imagine this is because it needs to be higher to accomodate the motor housing under the walking surface. The instruction booklet is easy to read. Being able to change speeds and include both the downhill and uphill features in my workout is great. It is a very quiet treadmill. It is great that my feet do not kick the motor housing when I walk. This is very important if you need to hold on to the hand rail when you walk because you are closer to the front of the walking surface. My only complaint is the way that the console is attached to the treadmill. I think longer screws and also more than two is needed for a more secure attachment. This is a minor detail. I choose to keep this treadmill in one spot because it is heavy. Overall, the treadmill is sturdy and attractive and the controls are easy to read and use. It is easy to fold and unfold. I am very happy with my purchase.

There are other treadmills out there with a lot of extra features that are nice but they are also massive. The TR 2000-HRC does everything you need quietly and with a minimum footprint. I love that the motor box is not in front as I alway bumped into that with my last machine. I wish it had an MP3 jack but I am thrilled with the choice of this machine. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of an MP3 jack.

What a help the reviews on this treadmill have been! My husband and I are both very happy with it. It is in fact quiet enough to watch TV or listen to the radio without irritation, and smooth enough to allow reading a book without strain. It feels solid and secure. The grip areas allow users of different heights to be comfortable. The programs are fine, and function smoothly. I particularly like the ability to walk both uphill and downhill. The manual that came with the machine could have been more detailed and better written, but the machine is well designed enough to make that a minor problem.

The raving reviews and convenient footprint of this treadmill sold me very quickly. This was a leap of faith since this product was not on the floor of any Denver area health equipment store. The design is sturdy, clean and well-engineered. The functionality of the control panel met all of my requirements….so I thought. For my purposes, only heart rate and an elapsed time display are necessary. I believe that these parameters are elemental to achieve aerobic value from exercise. Every treadmill in the galaxy displays this information side by side…..except this treadmill. Your display choices are CALORIES BURNED next to the TIMER or HEART RATE next to STEP COUNT. I don’t understand the need for step count, sorry. To see either of the combinations, you must press the MODE button and switch back and forth. When you remove either hand from the side bars containing the pulse sensors, the heart rate disappears. So, unless you can activate the mode button with your nose while running at 6 miles per hour, you will lose the heart rate display as you switch then wait until the pulse sensor stabilizes. While there are programs that will sustain a constant heart rate, I want to see the number so I can manipulate speed and incline during manual control. This is an amazing oversight for a very high quality product. I am working with the distributor to find a solution…other than to buy a separate heart rate monitor or timer. When this happens, I will raise the rating from a 3 to a 5.

Post Script … The distributor sent an older control console that displayed heart rate and timer side-by-side. The unit was used, cosmetically blemished and had different exercise profiles than the originally shipped console. A manual detailing these profiles was not included. I sent it back and bought a nice count down/count up time at Target. My rating will remain a 3.

I decided to cancel my gym membership and purchase an elliptical machine since this is mainly what i do at the gym anyway. But i really wanted the “gym experience” of watching a DVD or TV while working out. if you’ve never tried it you should, it makes the cardio hour fly by. (and i wanted to use my elliptical as much as possible so that i didn’t feel guilty for spending so much money on it…) anyway i purchased this TV stand and it was better than i’d expected in several ways. It was shipped quickly. “Assembly” was a breeze if you can even call it that since pretty much all you do is unfold and tighten the knobs. But even the knobs were so well labeled (big hanging tags on each knob!), that even a child could have followed the instructions. Once erect, the stand is very stable, perfect height plus adjustable, and the tabletop area is covered in foam which makes it almost impossible for the TV to slip off.

I also purchased a wireless headphone set (Kross) which requires a little black box to be plugged into the back of the TV, while maintaining direct line of sight with my headphone receiver. (for best reception) The stand’s table top was large enough so that the TV and the Kross box fit perfectly. This permits me to point the Kross headphone box (on the stand) right at the headphone receiver. (which i had attached to my elliptical several feet away from the TV/stand)

I could have mounted the TV on the wall but I like the flexibility of having my TV available for other purposes. (the kid’s spanish tutor uses it for lessons & we put it in the guest room on occasion) Alternately, I could have located a tall utility rack or something but I felt the cost was worth the flexibility of having a dedicated stand plus it is compact, stable, and probably looks more attractive.

Also I have to say I was very impressed with the vendor. Somehow I received 2 products when I’d only wanted 1. I am sure i must have accidentally pushed something twice. But no questions asked, the vendor never tried to blame me for the error, but rather he promptly refunded the additional stand to include my shipping costs.

And now I have the “gym experience” and use my elliptical constantly. My only problem is that i am quickly running out of DVD movies… so now I think I might have to subscribe to Netflicks…!!!

Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

This is an older ProForm model, I have owned it almost 5 years now, and it appears to be well made. I’ve put a lot of mileage on it and never a breakdown of any mechanical parts. The console electronics conked out on me while it was still under warranty and I’ve had no trouble since then. This one seems to be better built than the newer models and less flimsy overall. Plus very few have two sets of hand weights that store right below the console like this model does.

The worst part of the assembly is just getting the treadmill out of the box. ProForm provides the allen wrench for assembly, but you have to provide a Phillips screwdriver. It took me all of 30 minutes, and I’m female.

The treadmill features:

>Walking belt measures 17″ wide by 53″ long – OK for walking, but in my opinion, you need at least 18″, preferably 19″ or 20″ to comfortably jog or run
>6 pre-programmed workouts – 2 of them are controlled by your heart rate and the speed/incline of the treadmill is constantly adjusted to keep your heart in the target fan burning zone
>iFit compatible – (with a paid membership) plug into your computer (with purchased audio cable as the one included is very short), Ipod, VCR or CD player for extra programmed workouts
>300 pound weight capacity (most treadmills are 250 pounds) – This wasn’t a factor for me, but I figured, what the heck – you might as well get one with the highest rated weight capacity as it probably means the motor is better.

The treadmill also comes equipped with two sets of dumbbells – 2 pound and 3 pound – and these are stored in a rack right underneath the console. They should be used for walking only (no running) and are conveniently located so you don’t have to bend down to retrieve them in the middle of your workout.

The treadmill is the fold-up Space Saver design, and when folded, takes up about the same amount of space as a bathtub mat. It has a set of wheels for rolling out of the way, but let’s face it, if you are trying to roll this treadmill on carpeting, it is VERY hard to move it. After all, the treadmill weighs way over 200 lbs. and unless you are rolling it across hardwood floors, it will be tough to move.

I think the only area ProForm is lacking in is their warranty. Hopefully, I won’t have to use it. The standard warranty with this model is 5 years on the motor and 90 days parts/labor on the remainder. I purchased the extended warranty for 9.00 which adds 3 years of extra warranty to both the motor and parts/labor. However if you read the FINE PRINT on the standard warranty, and the serviceman makes a visit to your home, you have to pay a “minimal trip charge”. As to what is “minimal” – I have no idea.

Even though ProForm is a U.S. company, most of the parts come from China and it is assembled here. So far, the treadmill seems to be of high quality for the low dollar amount paid for it. I can’t afford a high-end treadmill, and ProForm makes a good, economical treadmill that appeals to the masses. It is well worth the money spent for a healthier lifestyle.

Great for the Price! – Lobstah – Maine
I love this treadmill! It is a great bargain amongst treadmills. I am not a serious runner, just starting out. I love the automatic speed and incline controls, and I like that there is a magazine rack, cubby holes for my drink and ipod. I do find it is loud when I go over 6.5mp, so I do not recommend it for people who are looking to run a quick pace. I do also use the fan, which someone said on high speed was too loud to hear their music, but I did not find that to be a problem. So if you are looking to get in shape, are just starting out, and are on a limited budget, I highly recommend this treadmill.

Proform cheats you – brian –
I bought a treadmill from proform and a month later it broke down. I sent them an e-mail and told them about it. They keep telling me to try this and to try that and one day the E-mails stopped. I called them and said non of this is working could you send somebody out. They said sure for 0. I said no this is covered in the warranty. Turns out since I never actually “asked” them to come out and fix it that it was not included in the warranty and since the 90 days was up they were no longer obligated to fix it. A dirty little trick since I complained of the malfunction while the warranty was still active. Turns out that the e-mails stopped right at the 90 day mark when the warranty expired.

I paid the 0 to have somebody come out. The money was withdrawn from my account withing minutes of the phone call. However, a technician was not sent out until 8 weeks later after I called them several times. One time they tried to charge me again for the repair call. To fix the machine would have cost me more than I paid so it ended up going to salvation army. Even the technician said that proform was a shady company. Not only do they pull this type of thing all the time but they lie about the treadmills. This treadmill advertised that it could handle people up to 250 pounds, yet the repair man told me he would not suggest that any one over 160 pounds use it.

Proform is a terrible company who makes a terrible product and I will never do business with them again. Don’t waste you time or your money on this piece of garbage. I cannot stress enough that you should stay clear from these scam artists.
